Ryan Novitski

VP, Esports Educational Development at American Esports

Ryan S. Novitski, originally from Rochester, New York, attended Greece Athena High School graduating with high honors. His ambition, and determination to pursue the educational field has roots fixed into his upbringing within his household, and was heightened during his high school educational years. Through several educational mentors within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) field, it was evident that his pathway was destined to be an educational leader within the STEAM field.

Proceeding high school, Mr. Novitski was determined to further his passion at the State University at SUNY Oswego were he majored in Technology Education with aspirations to become a Technology and Engineering Educator. Graduating with honors, Mr. Novitski began his educational career at Charles County Public Schools as a Technology and Engineering Educator which escalated him on his educational endeavors towards pursuing further leadership as a Vice Principal at Oxon Hill, a Science/Technology/Career and Technical High School within Prince George’s County Public Schools. His belief is that through embracing his strengths of learner, responsibility, restorative, achiever, and competition that he will continually work towards creating “A future where all students, regardless of background or experiences, have access to high-quality learning environments, a broad array of educational opportunities, and effective support systems that equip them to graduate college and career ready.”

Throughout his professional endeavor, he continually sought out education to make him the best version of himself that he can to be that current/future teacher, mentor, and instructional leader. Being a continual learner, he obtained all certifications enabling him to broaden his horizon as an educational leader. Currently, he holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration/Leadership from McDaniel; graduating with high honors. Also, he holds an Advanced Professional Certificate – Administrative 1/ 2, and Technology Education 7-12; his undergraduate enabling him to teach K-12. Currently, he is enrolled in an Educational Leadership Doctoral program through University of Maryland at Eastern Shore. He holds an Maryland Online Course Facilitator Certificate that enables him to understand how to integrate/implement online resources to teach a wide array of technologies online. Furthermore, he is working towards a Level 2 Certification in Google for Education, and completed an advanced principalship program. It is his belief that an educational leader needs to be an on-going learner that embraces educational/professional opportunities. Recently, he has worked on several different initiatives that have led to or in the development of current comprehensive, advanced placement, and courses to serve students of special needs that are implemented nationally. Also, he had been appointed to be an adjunct professor at the State University at SUNY Oswego to instruct a graduate course that specifically focuses on the Technology and Engineering Educator deliverance/construction of effective instruction.

Proceeding his first year of teaching, he embraced many educational leadership roles. He aided to create new Engineering by Design (EbD) courses as well as nationally cross-walked assessments. He was selected to lead/manage International Technological Engineering Education Association (ITEEA)-EbD Professional Development workshops as a National Teacher Effectiveness Coach; consisting of intensive trainings that encompass covering instructional pedagogy/content, and best practices in the classroom for the upcoming school year. These enabled him to build the capacity of educators throughout the country, direct team members within his school district/county, and enabled him to collaborate with multi-cultural professionals across the country. He has presented at several ITEEA conferences were he delivered professional developments on EbD courses to inform the stakeholders of the most current Technology/Engineering Education courses. Most notably, he has been recognized across the nation as a lead in the ITEEA – EbD organization in which he has devised, and presented professional development at Louisiana Technical Institute, Illinois State University, Baltimore County, Prince Georges County, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and others.

At his former placement, St. Charles High School, he was a Technology/Engineering educator that helped to grow a new Technology Education department. He instructed Foundations of Technology, Advanced Design Applications, and Engineering Design. Furthermore, he was the school’s VEX Robotics Coach, new teacher mentor, and the conditioning/assistant basketball/lacrosse coach for the school. He was part of a vision/mission, bring your own device, and was the STEM committee chair. Prior to St. Charles, he was an instructor at North Point High School in which he was the school’s lead for the EbD courses that the Technology/Engineering education department instructed, and aided with some administrative responsibilities. Furthermore, he initiated the school’s first VEX robotics team, and started a weight lifting club.

Currently, he is a Vice Principal at Oxon Hill High School, a Science and Technology School and Career and Technical Education School. He believes that strong instruction leads to the success of all students. He oversaw the class of 2020 that achieved a 9th grade promotion rate of 96.5% for the 16-17 school year that entailed working collectively with data coaches, and leadership teams to assist in putting proper interventions in place to ensure the success of all students. He believes in utilizing data, and distributed leadership to make informed decisions to reach the full potential of all students, and staff. He had continually raised expectations of himself, and his class of 2020 team to achieve higher promotion, and graduation rates than in prior years. Careful analysis led to informed decisions on determining next steps for each student. Currently, he is the second lead at Oxon Hill High School, and some of his responsibilities include/d managing 1-1 Devices, Professional Development Calendar Coordinator, School Magazine Facilitator, Business Partnerships Coordinator, Master Scheduler Director, First Robotics Tri-State Event Coordinator, Interim Athletic Director, and CTE Grant/Professional Development Coordinator. He leads the Career and Technical Education departments as well as Mathematics. Throughout his experiences as an instructional leader, he continually strives to develop the instructional capacity of all while embracing his strengths and leveraging my weaknesses to my schools/district mission/vision.

Mr. Novitski believes in engaging all stakeholders to achieve an overall common goal towards student success. He has led initiatives to strengthen the involvements of all stakeholders to strengthen our educational programs that had a direct impact on student achievement/success.

Mr. Novitski is married to Katherine Caruso, and is a proud educator that seeks, and seizes every opportunity to enhance student learning/achievement. He aspires to finish his doctorate, and promote student learning to achieve success for all.
