Alena Naiden is a dedicated journalist with a diverse background in reporting, writing, and content creation. Currently serving as a reporter for both the Arctic Sounder and Anchorage Daily News since November 2021, Alena previously covered city politics, health, science, and Alaska Native issues for the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Alena's freelance work from 2015 to January 2021 included contributions to various publications such as the San Francisco Chronicle, where the focus was on economic development, personal stories, and art. Alena also held roles such as features writer for the American Red Cross and content manager at Marlow, where topics included communication and emotional intelligence. Early experiences include working as an editorial assistant intern and performing proofreading and editing tasks. Alena earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from San Francisco State University and an Associate’s Degree in Journalism from De Anza College.
