Alex Mason-Apps

Alex Mason-Apps has extensive experience in the geology and minerals industry, serving in various leadership roles since 2001. Currently, Alex holds the position of VP Growth Projects and Specialist Support at AngloGold Ashanti, where previous titles include Vice President - Geology for Continental Africa and Senior Manager of both Brownfields Exploration and Geology Projects. Prior to joining AngloGold Ashanti in November 2012, Alex worked as a Director at Shango Solutions, offering geological consultancy services in Johannesburg. Alex's earlier roles include Technical Manager at Signet Mining and Senior Geologist at Barrick Gold Corporation. Alex began a career in exploration geology with Placer Dome from 2001 to 2006 after earning an M.Sc. in Economic Geology from Rhodes University and a B.Sc. Hons in Geology from UCL.
