Are you detail-oriented with a keen understanding of compliance and legal frameworks? The ANU Entrepreneurship Club is looking for a Company Secretary to manage the legal and compliance aspects of the club’s operations. In this role, you will work directly with the President to ensure the club adheres to ANU, the Students’ Union, and relevant legal guidelines, while maintaining compliance with our constitution and creating necessary policies to support the club’s growth.
About the role
As the Company Secretary, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal and compliance-related matters for the club. You’ll ensure that our operations are in line with university policies, create and manage club policies, and keep detailed records of our meetings. Working closely with the President, this is a critical role that ensures the club functions efficiently within the legal and regulatory frameworks, while also supporting its strategic goals.
What you’ll do
- Ensure compliance with ANU and Students’ Union guidelines, university policies, and legal regulations.
- Work directly with the President to ensure the club’s activities are aligned with legal and compliance requirements.
- Manage the Club’s constitution and ensure all activities align with its provisions.
- Draft, manage, and review policies to ensure they are up-to-date and in line with legal requirements.
- Take minutes at meetings, ensuring accurate and detailed records are kept for future reference.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents, reports, and submissions as required.
- Provide legal and compliance advice to the leadership team when needed.
- Ensure that all activities, events, and projects comply with university, Students’ Union, and legal policies.
- Dedicating 4 hours weekly, including 2 hours in-office for meetings, policy review, and compliance work.
- Attend leadership and team meetings to ensure alignment between legal, compliance, and operational objectives.
What we’re looking for
- A student currently enrolled at ANU with experience in law, compliance, or governance.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Knowledge of university guidelines, Students’ Union policies, and legal frameworks related to student organizations.
- Excellent written communication skills for creating and reviewing policies and minute-taking.
- Ability to analyse legal and compliance issues and offer solutions to ensure smooth operations.
- Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
