Dirk Van Dongen

Dirk Van Dongen was President and CEO of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors for over 40 years. He retired from NAW in November 2020.

NAW is the preeminent trade association for leading wholesale distribution companies and is highly regarded for its focus on assisting its members to be at the forefront of customer -focused strategies in order to remain the essential supply chain partner of choice for both manufacturers and business customers. NAW counts distribution companies which command major market share in its membership.

Dirk concurrently served as President of the NAW Institute for Distribution Excellence, NAW’s research arm, which sponsors research into strategic issues associated with innovation in distribution. Upon his retirement from NAW, the Institute Board named Dirk an Honorary Director for Life.

Mr. Van Dongen also served as President of the NAW Service Corporation, a for -profit, subsidiary and remains involved with this organization in a consultant capacity.

Mr. Van Dongen was appointed to the Administration’s Economic Revival Industry Group at the outset of the coronavirus pandemic.

He also was a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 and previously has served on the boards of the American Council for Capital Formation, The Institute for Research into the Economics of Taxation, Citizens for a Sound Economy, and the National Child Research Center.
