Oscar Ortega

Senior Scientist at Applied BioMath

Oscar completed his Ph.D. in Chemical and Physical Biology at Vanderbilt University in 2021. His research focused on combining mathematical models with Bayesian calibration to understand the mechanisms that modulate the MAPK and apoptosis pathways. Throughout his Ph.D., Oscar developed a visualization tool to observe the network of protein interactions encoded in models and a method based on machine learning and biochemistry to characterize the effect of parameter uncertainty in systems biology models. He also interned at Novartis, where he learned about RNA sequencing and microarray analysis.
