Michael Arruza Cruz has six years of professional work experience. Michael began their career in 2016 as a Summer Technology Analyst at Goldman Sachs. In 2017, they worked as a Summer Financial Engineer at Balyasny Asset Management L.P. where they built a predictive model for short interest rates and a backtesting suite to test trading strategies. In the same year, they also worked as a Programmer and Research Assistant at the Virtual Human Interaction Lab at Stanford University, where they programmed virtual reality experiences and analyzed participant tracking and movement time series data. In 2018, Michael worked as a Data Engineer, Analytics Intern at Facebook, where they used SQL, PrestoDB and Daiquery to query and analyze large datasets and built dashboards to monitor conversion funnel and KPI metrics. Michael also worked as an Applied Research Engineer at Apple, where they designed and improved content recommendation systems across Apple’s media products using machine learning and deep learning and used Spark to process and analyze data stored on Hadoop. Currently, Michael works as a Machine Learning Engineer at Google, and they are set to begin working as a Research Engineer at Aquatic Capital Management in 2022.
Michael Arruza Cruz obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from Stanford University between 2014-2018. Michael then continued their education at Stanford University, earning a Master's degree in Computer Science in 2020.
