Julia Rosen

VP, Global Academic Initiatives at Arizona State University

Julia Rosen became vice president for Global Academic Initiatives at Arizona State University in July 2021, where she leads a global service team that contributes to and executes ASU’s enterprise-wide global partnerships with organizations including Cintana Education and the Mastercard Foundation. Through Global Launch, the unit also delivers language and cultural competency training for ASU international students as well as learners and professionals worldwide.

Rosen’s ASU tenure spans more than 20 years leading economic development, ed tech and global partnerships for the university. She has worked with global governments and private and public partners around the world to design, negotiate and launch innovative collaborations on behalf of ASU. She has held roles as associate vice provost for ASU Online and associate vice president for innovation and entrepreneurship.

In 2010, Rosen co-founded ASU’s partnership with Global Silicon Valley (GSV) to launch the annual ASU GSV Education Innovation Summit, identified by the New York Times as the “must attend” event for ed tech investors. This convening connects educators, investors, industry leaders and entrepreneurs from more than 130 countries to expand access to high quality education around the world.

Rosen led the development of one of the premier economic engines in the Phoenix Metro region: SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. Focused on innovation and technology, the center attracts companies ranging from globally recognized brands to startups and integrates the resources of ASU to help them grow. This public-private partnership is estimated to annually produce more than $1 billion in economic activity for the State of Arizona.

Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, Rosen holds a Master of International Management degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and an MBA from the W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU.
