Mehrdad Karimipetanlar is a PhD candidate in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering at SMU Lyle School of Engineering, specializing in soil mechanics, dynamics, liquefaction, particle dampers, and granular materials. They currently work as a Geotechnical and Tunneling Engineer at Arup. Previously, Mehrdad supported research and teaching as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at SMU and gained industry experience as a Civil Engineering Intern at Deno Construction Company. They received competitive research funding from the US Army Corps of Engineers and two National Science Foundation awards.
