Aaron Philip Blaakman

International Health Economist

Aaron Philip Blaakman is a seasoned health economist with extensive experience in health economics and financing across various regions, currently serving as Health Economist Lead at The World Bank and International Health Economist at the Asian Development Bank. Since 2024, Blaakman has been involved in key health financing initiatives, including the costing of disease burdens in the United Arab Emirates and supporting health projects in Central Asia. Previous roles include Senior Health Care Financing Advisor at Un Ponte Per and Senior Advisor on Health Care Financing with the Aga Khan Foundation, among others. Blaakman earned a PhD in Health Economics and Financing from The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University and holds an MPA from Syracuse University's Maxwell School and a BA in Economics, French, and Philosophy from Fordham University.
