Contract Software Engineer at Aspire

Paul Johnson has diverse work experience in software engineering roles.

Paul is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at Domino Data Lab since April 2022. Their responsibilities include adding automated tests, lowering costs, and integrating Intellij IDEA into the Remote Dev environment.

Prior to that, Paul worked as a Contract Software Engineer at Aspire starting from June 2021. During this time, they used Google Cloud products to build reports for accounting purposes, fixed problems with data pipelines, developed financial reports using BigQuery, and delivered reports using Cloud Functions and Cloud Scheduler.

Paul also has experience as the Founder of Lazy Test, starting from November 2020. Paul developed software for automated testing, using technologies such as NodeJS, Typescript, TypeGraphQL, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes. Paul extensively utilized various Google Cloud products for this project.

In addition, Paul worked as a Software Engineer at Dragos, Inc. from May 2021 to November 2021. Paul wrote HTTP API endpoints, built features in React and Redux, and integrated with external firewalls using logstash and custom Ruby scripts.

Before that, they worked at AspireIQ as a Software Developer from April 2018 to November 2020. Paul worked on various areas including frontend, backend, and developer tools. Paul developed features using Angular, Python, React, and Node, and implemented build and deploy pipelines using CircleCI.

Paul also has experience as a Rotational Engineer at Facebook, where they worked on developer tools in React, Hack, and GraphQL from February 2017 to February 2018.

Furthermore, they worked as a Software Developer at Kakapo Technologies Ltd and Kakapo Research and Development Ltd. Paul was the Lead Developer on RRT (Reconciliation and Reporting Tool) and experienced with technologies like Django admin, Celery, and the ELK stack. Paul provided maintenance and support for the system and trained new developers.

Earlier in their career, Paul worked as a Software Developer at Global Market Insite and developer at Kakapo Technologies Ltd and Kakapo Research and Development Ltd.

Paul started their career as a Casual Data Entry Worker at Kiwibank, where they fulfilled requests for information.

Throughout their career, Paul has gained proficiency in various programming languages, frameworks, and cloud platforms.

Paul Johnson completed a Post Grad Dip in Computer Science at Massey University in 2008. Paul then pursued an MSc in Computer Science from an undisclosed institution from 2008 to 2010. Prior to this, they attended Waikato Institute of Technology from 2001 to 2003, where they obtained a B Media Arts degree with a focus on Music and Sound Recording.
