Yan Chan

Yan Chan is a seasoned professional in safety engineering and assurance, currently serving as a Principal Safety Assurance Engineer at Assala Energy since November 2025. Previously, Yan held roles as Principal Engineer - Technical Safety at Aker Solutions and Safety Engineer at Perenco. An extensive career began at Genesis Oil and Gas Consultants, where Yan advanced through various senior positions, including Consultant Safety and Reliability Engineer and Principal Safety and Reliability Engineer. Earlier experience includes roles as Senior Engineer and Project Engineer at Risktec Solutions Ltd, as well as a Consultant at Det Norske Veritas, focusing on safety and risk consulting in the aviation industry and performance forecasting in the rail sector. Yan Chan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Oxford, attained between 2004 and 2007.
