Alan Sweeney

Alan Sweeney is an experienced medical professional specializing in sports medicine and musculoskeletal health. Currently serving as the Lead Academy Doctor at Aston Villa Football Club since September 2025 and as Lead Consultant for the Wolverhampton MSK Service at Cora Health since March 2023, Alan has a robust background in football and health services. Positions held include Doctor for The Football Association and Academy Doctor at Wolves, as well as roles with various football organizations, including Shrewsbury Town FC and the Irish Football Association. Alan has also held a Chief Medical Officer position with BAMMA and served as a doctor for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Academic qualifications include an MSK Ultrasound PG Cert from the University of East London, a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, an MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians London, and an M.B.B.S. in Medicine and a BSc in Neurosciences from The University of Manchester.
