James Intermont

James Intermont is the current Principal at Atalaya Capital Management. Prior to this, they were the Vice President of Structured Credit and Private Asset Backed at Ares Management L.P. from February 2015 to January 2018. In this role, they were responsible for originating, underwriting, and structuring private asset-backed and structured credit investments across capital structures. This included debt, junior/mezzanine, and equity/whole loan purchases.

Duties also included negotiating termsheets with counterparties, credit analysis of underlying collateral and overall investment structure, including breakeven and stressed environment analysis and modeled returns for investment, detailed cash flow modeling of revolving or term structures for all investments, presenting all investment opportunities to various internal investment committees and portfolio managers, legal documentation structuring including direct negotiation with counterparties and various outside counsel, closing and funding of all transactions, and collateral and transaction monitoring throughout investment's life (including amendments, restructurings, and upsizes).

Structures they have worked with include senior secured revolving asset-backed credit facilities, junior/mezzanine secured revolving asset-backed credit facilities, back-leverage, distressed whole loan purchases, ABS transaction residual purchases, warrants in operating companies. Selected asset classes they have experience with include online consumer installment loans (including both U.S. and U.K. marketplace lenders), storefront consumer installment loans, consumer point-of-sale loans, private label credit card rece

James Intermont completed a BA in Theirtory from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. James then attended Stuyvesant High School. James is certified from FINRA in Series 63, 7 and 79.
