Chong Sun

Chong Sun is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in data engineering and machine learning. Currently serving as VP of Data at Athena since March 2025, Chong is focused on developing human and AI assistants. Prior roles include Senior Director of Engineering at Archer and Tempo, where Chong led data analytics, engineering, and ML infrastructure initiatives, successfully modernizing data architectures. With a background as Senior Director at Tencent, supporting major products like Tencent Video and Tencent Sports, Chong has a proven track record in executing data strategies that leverage AI and machine learning. Previous experience also includes key positions at Uber and @Walmartlabs, coupled with research contributions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and internships at IBM Almaden. Chong holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master's degree from the National University of Singapore.
