Rob Theis appointed to Avaya Board of Directors

Global tech company Avaya has announced the appointment of Rob Theis to its Board of Directors. Mr. Theis will become the eighth member of the company’s board, effective November 6, 2020. “We are extremely pleased to welcome Rob Theis to our Board of Directors. He brings with him valued perspectives and insights on a range of relevant topics including innovation, entrepreneurship and growth in the cloud,” said Avaya Board Chairman Bill Watkins. “He has considerable experience in supporting strategic initiatives and identifying opportunities for market differentiation that align well with Avaya’s objective to increase shareholder value by advancing our position as a cloud and SaaS leader.” Mr. Theis has been a General Partner at venture capital firm World Innovation Lab since 2016, and has extensive venture capital experience. He has also served as a leader in the technology industry, including roles at New Era Networks, Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics.

Stephen Spears named Avaya COO

Stephen Spears named Avaya COO

Technology company Avaya has appointed Stephen Spears to the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer. Mr Spears will be added to the company’s executive management team, with responsibility for revenue strategy, performance and alignment. He will report to President and CEO Jim Chirico. “Stephen has a keen understanding of what it takes to drive sales, marketing and customer success, making him an ideal fit to help lead execution on our very deliberate strategy,” said Mr. Chirico. “The re-imagined Avaya has never been more relevant to our growing base of customers and partners globally, and the way we are executing shows the winning mentality, expanding commitment to our customers, and strong culture of Avaya. We could not be more excited to have Stephen join our team.” Mr. Spears comes to Avaya from a 17-year stint at SAP, most recently as Chief Revenue Officer of SAP SuccessFactors. He has nearly 30 years of experience in management, including expertise in go-to-market, SaaS and Cloud areas. “Joining Avaya at this critical juncture in their long-term strategy demonstrates Avaya’s continuing commitment to their extensive customer base and vibrant ecosystem,” said Spears. “Putting people at the center of communications is at the heart of every successful business worldwide, and Avaya’s unwavering commitment to this goal will help drive a customer-centric approach that will generate top-line growth and sustainable solutions for decades to come.
