Boyd Epley is a consultant and a founding member of the Advisory Board for Avolve Sports.

Recently retired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning at the University of Nebraska, with over 50 years of experience in the field, Boyd brings unparalleled knowledge and expertise to the Avolve Sports team, where he continues his legacy of helping athletes improve their performance.

Recognized as the first paid strength and conditioning coach in collegiate athletics, Boyd is considered the Godfather of Strength and Conditioning. As the University of Nebraska’s head strength coach for football, Boyd pioneered the “Husker Power” strength and conditioning program and helped the Huskers win 356 games in 35 years and five national championships. Boyd also helped found the National Strength and Conditioning Association, which has certified over 60,000 strength coaches and served as its president and chairman of the board of directors for five years.

Among numerous other achievements and awards, for his national contribution in strength and conditioning, Boyd was named a 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award winner by the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition. Boyd was also named to the U.S. Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in June 2003 and was the first-ever recipient awarded the National Strength Coach of the Year Award (1980) by the NSCA. In 1993, he was presented the NSCA’s first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award.
