Software Engineer at Avvir


Scott Harrison is a software engineer who currently works for Avvir. Prior to working for Avvir, Harrison worked for the Himalayan Institute as a junior web developer. In this role, they were responsible for assisting senior developers with various technical activities, from design to coding to testing in an agile development environment. Harrison also built approximately 80 webpages for the new website using HTML and CSS, and designed and developed a WordPress plug-in called Community Spotlight. This plug-in is a CMS that allows users to highlight staff profiles on the website. In addition, Harrison successfully presented a UAT plan to Senior Management for approval and proved their organizational skills by completing over 600 user stories related to website revisions and updates. Prior to working for the Himalayan Institute, Harrison worked as an instructor for TEKintellect and as a private tutor for Bee Tutored.

Scott Harrison's educational career began with him studying web development at the Flatiron School. Scott then went on to study mechanical engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University. Lastly, they attended Mills E Godwin High School, where they studied math and science.

They are on a team with Sharon Zhu - Software Engineer, Cameron Honis - Software Engineer, and Evan Perlman - Software Engineer. Scott Harrison reports to Lisa Van Gelder, VP of SW Engineering.
