Narbeli Galindo Named as New Baker University Endowed Chair
Private Kansas City area college Baker University has announced the appointment of Narbeli Galindo to the William Everett and Mary Ellen Mealman Endowed Chair of Business Leadership and Innovation. In the role, Galindo will engage with the business community of Greater Kansas to promote the interests of students and teach courses in international trade and business. She will begin the position starting on August 1st of this year.
"Narbeli's extensive experience in local and global business development will be an asset to our community and provide exceptional learning experiences for our students," said Baker University President Lynne Murray.
Galindo has more than 20 years' experience promoting the economic development of the Greater Kansas City area and helping foster entrepreneurial endeavors in the region. She has spent the last five and a half years as Director of International Trade and Affairs for the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, where she has helped foreign companies do business and invest in the area.
"I went from corporate to teaching, to running a business, to promoting an amazing city and its people," said Galindo, who founded Narbeli's Imports LLC in 2003. "Now, I am fortunate to lead an important role at Baker University, preparing students in how to become successful international entrepreneurs."
