About the Role

We are looking for a creative, data-driven, and effective Senior Social Media Associate, to join our Growth team; and drive the growth and engagement of Zikoko’s social media platforms, with a core focus on Twitter + Instagram. In addition, you will drive social media marketing campaigns for clients, users and traffic to Zikoko’s verticals, as well as registrations for Zikoko’s events.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who loves media, loves our brands, and loves to experiment. We’re also keen to find someone who has extensive experience building an engaged community, and driving community growth. It’s also important to us that you have a roll your sleeves approach to work, because as a startup, we have a bias to action.

Flexibility will be key, along with an ability to experiment, execute and iterate thoroughly; seeing experiments through from conception to post-execution analysis and reporting. Our goal is to learn and get smarter from every experiment we try and to embed those learnings across the business.

Reporting to the Growth Lead and Zikoko’s Editorial leadership, you will work hand in glove with the rest of the growth/marketing team, our talented editorial teams, our biz dev team and the other units that make Big Cabal special. This is a cross-functional role where you will support various teams in the business and receive the same support from them all.

While Big Cabal Media operates out of our Lagos office, this role is remote-friendly, and we welcome applicants from anywhere in the world.

Job Summary

This role core focus is to drive the engagement and growth of Zikoko’s social media; specifically Twitter and Instagram (this could change). This person is responsible for maintaining our brand voice online, as well as providing the editorial teams with feedback on our audience, and their preferences. This means that this role works hand-in-glove, with the editorial team, even though they are under the Growth team.

The Senior Social Media Associate also works alongside the rest of the growth team to execute growth projects; both in-house and for clients. They will also need to provide leadership, and guidance to new social media managers on the team, helping them grow professionally, and supervising their work.

This role requires a creative and efficient person, with excellent communication and project management skills, who is also always ready to adapt to the ever changing world of social media. The ability to prioritize and properly manage your time/projects, will serve you well in this role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Create and execute the social media strategy for Zikoko’s Instagram and Twitter channels.

• Drive the growth and engagement of Zikoko’s Instagram and Twitter channels.

• Maintain content creation and distribution, as well as brand voice across Zikoko’s Instagram and Twitter channels.

• Provide feedback to the editorial team in the process of optimizing content for engagement including social media captions.

• Work with the Editorial/Growth team to carry out audience polls and research, to guide content strategy.

• Work with the rest of the Growth/Marketing team, on executing in-house/client events, campaigns, and growth projects.

• Collaborate with the rest of the Growth/Marketing team, to create strategic data-informed campaigns across all channels that drive audience reach, engagement, acquisition and retention.

• Interact/respond with followers/inquiries on Instagram and Twitter by replying to DMs and comments on posts.

• Distribute content such as press releases and client posts on social media

• Continuously analyze performance across Zikoko’s Instagram and Twitter accounts, and optimize them for improved results.

• Create weekly and monthly reports, on the performance of Zikoko’s Instagram, and Twitter.

• Identify social media opportunities like trends and new platforms to jump on

• Social listening: Monitor social media channels for mentions of the brand, and its products.
