Celeste James is the VP of Equity & Population Health at Big Health. Celeste has dedicated their career to improving health outcomes for all, regardless of zip code.


James began their career in 1986 as a Public Affairs Manager for Gannett Co., Inc./USA Today. Celeste then moved to U.S. News & World Report in 1993, where they served as Director of Media Relations. In 2000, they transitioned to NPR as Vice President of Communications.


In 2004, James founded their own boutique integrated communications firm, Nneka Communications. There, they worked with clients in the arts and health industries, including the NIH and Kaiser Permanente.


In 2006, James joined Kaiser Permanente as Executive Director of Community Health. For the next fifteen years, they led investments and advocated for policies to improve health outcomes for all.


In their current role as VP of Equity & Population Health at Big Health, James is continuing their work to create conditions for people to have equitable and just access to good health and prosperity.


Celeste James attended Cleveland State University where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services.


They work with Ankur Kaushal - VP, Regulatory Affairs & Quality, Neil Simpson - Creative Director, and Brandon Paluzzi - Founding Engineer. Celeste James reports to Peter Hames, Co-founder, CEO.
