Kieran Burke is currently a Li Lab Research Assistant at Binghamton University, focusing on the effects of the gut microbiome on neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease using techniques like LC-MS, qPCR, and immunohistochemistry. Kieran co-authored a publication with Li, Y, and previously served as a Student Researcher, where research involved evaluating a novel drug combination for non-small cell lung cancer and managing laboratory protocols. Kieran also organized events for LGBTQIA+ students as a Q Center Undergraduate Intern. Other experience includes an Oncology Internship at The New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute and a role as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor at Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, where instruction was provided to children of various ages and needs. Kieran is pursuing a dual Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish at Binghamton University, with plans for a study abroad program at Universidad de Granada.
