Mathias Schlecht

CEO at Biota

Mathias Schlecht is the current CEO of Biota. Mathias has held this position since January 2019. Prior to that, they were the Vice President of Enterprise Technology at Baker Hughes, a GE company. Mathias was with Baker Hughes from April 1997 to January 2019. In that role, they were responsible for spearheading the critical effort of integrating product and technology development across the company. Mathias also had a key focus on alignment of engineering processes and systems, knowledge Management and career development, connecting 9,000 scientist and engineers across the enterprise. Additionally, they established and executed the research, technology, and innovation strategy and roadmap for Enterprise Research, the Dhahran Technology Center as well as the Energy Innovation Center in Oklahoma City. Mathias laid the foundation for effective portfolio management and ROI optimization through a common PDM process and tool.

Prior to their time at Baker Hughes, Mathias was a Research Assistant at Hamburg University of Technology from May 1992 to March 1997. There they worked on advanced modeling of room temperature shapes of unsymmetric fibre reinforced composites with FEA methods. Mathias also developed active deformable structures due to thermal residual stresses and the use of shape memory alloys.

Mathias Schlecht has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Hamburg University of Technology and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Hamburg University of Technology. Mathias also has a degree from Duke University in Corporate Education and a degree from Texas A&M University - Mays Business School in Center for Executive Development.
