Ronald Mornelli

SVP & Chief Network Office at BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York

Ronald Mornelli joined BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York in March 2014 and is the company’s senior vice president, chief network officer. He has more than 30 years’ experience with hospitals, insurance plans, and health systems.

He is responsible for value-added contracting and relationship-building with health systems, hospitals, and physician practices on behalf of BlueCross BlueShield.

Prior to joining BlueCross BlueShield, Mornelli served as senior vice president, business development at Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS), the parent company of a two-hospital system composed of Olean General Hospital and Bradford Regional Medical Center. He was responsible for developing strategies and revenue streams enabling the health system to thrive within a changing health care environment under the Affordable Care Act.

Additionally, Mornelli served as senior vice president, chief operating officer at UAHS. He was responsible for all day-to-day operations of Olean General Hospital. He also served in leadership roles at the Independent Health Association and Lifetime Health Medical Group.

Mornelli has a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, and a master’s degree in economics from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
