Thomas E. Schenk

SVP & Chief Medical Officer at BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York

Dr. Thomas Schenk joined BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York in June 2014 and is the company’s senior vice president, chief medical officer.

Schenk provides operational oversight for BlueCross BlueShield’s clinical strategy, medical management infrastructure, and all medical affairs, with the ultimate goal of ensuring excellence linked to outcomes and sound business results.

Previously, he served as managing partner at Delaware Pediatric Associates. He is a founding member of the Optimum Physician Alliance (OPA) and has served on the organization’s Physician Leadership Board for more than two years. He completed his internship and residency at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Schenk is a graduate of Cornell University and the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He serves on the board of directors for the March of Dimes, the Population Health Collaborative of Western New York, HEALTHeLINK, New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC), and West Buffalo Charter School. He also serves as President of the Buffalo Pediatric Society.
