Junchen Diao

Junchen Diao, Ph.D., is a seasoned healthcare investor at Octagon Capital Advisors since February 2019, with additional roles as a Board Observer at Bluejay Therapeutics, Bioheng Biotech, and ImmVira. Prior to these positions, Junchen served as Manager and Business Development Fellow at Fannin from January 2016 to January 2019, where responsibilities included market discovery and analysis for therapeutic technologies. Early research experience includes a role as a Graduate Research Assistant at MD Anderson Cancer Center, focusing on synthetic gene circuits, and as a Research Assistant at Tsinghua University, contributing to HIV vaccine development. Junchen earned a Ph.D. in Systems Biology and Synthetic Biology from UT MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston and holds a certificate in Life Sciences Entrepreneurship from Rice University, along with a B.S. in Biology from Wuhan University.
