Karla A. Henning

Associate Director of Antibody Engineering at Bolt Biotherapeutics

Karla A. Henning, Ph.D., associate director of antibody engineering, joined Bolt Biotherapeutics in 2018 from Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS). Dr. Henning is focused on developing the antibody engineering team at Bolt to provide expertise and reagents for antibody discovery and antibody lead candidate optimization to support the company’s R&D efforts. Dr. Henning spent sixteen years in roles of increasing responsibility at BMS (the “Biologics Discovery California” division, which was formerly Medarex) where she managed a group doing antibody engineering and expression. Prior to that, she served as a post-doctoral scientist in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Corixa Corporation and was a post-doctoral fellow before that in the Genetics and Molecular Biology Branch at the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Before that, she did a fellowship in the Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and was a graduate student in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University. Dr. Henning is a well published scientist and holds a Ph.D. in genetics from Stanford University and a bachelor of arts degree in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.
