Dr. Michael Merrill has held a variety of roles in the medical and business fields. Michael began their career in 1997 as a freelance columnist for The Buffalo News. In 2001, they became an Attending Physician at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center. In 2004, Dr. Merrill became an Attending Physician at Catholic Health System. In 2008, they were appointed as the Chief Medical Officer at United Memorial Medical Center, where they acted as a bridge between the administration and medical staff and advised the hospital and system on strategy. In 2017, they became the Medical Director of Innovation and Science at Independent Health. Most recently, in 2021, Dr. Merrill was appointed as the Chief Medical Officer at Brook Health.
Michael Merrill, MD, MS, MBA has a long and distinguished educational history. Michael earned their M.D. from Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, their first Master of Science (MS) in Epidemiology from the same university, and their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Liverpool. Michael also attended Columbia University - Graduate School of Journalism and Dartmouth College.
