Patricia Smith

Patricia (Pat) Smith is an accomplished healthcare professional with extensive experience in appeals management and regulatory compliance. Currently serving as Regional Director of Appeals at HCA Healthcare since July 2021, Pat oversees the management of Additional Information Requests and denied claims for outpatient therapy and home health services across all company locations. Concurrently, Pat has held the position of Regional Director of Appeals at Brookdale since December 2010, managing Medicare and Managed Care requests and providing training for documentation compliance. Previous roles include Senior Director of Appeals/Denials, where oversight was given to a team of regional directors, and Senior Director of Education and Training at LaVie. Pat's career advanced through various leadership positions at Innovative Senior Care Brookdale Senior Living and HealthSouth, culminating in a solid foundation of expertise in clinical training and healthcare operations. A graduate of the University of Montevallo, Pat holds a Master of Science in Speech Pathology.
