Andie Markowitz

Andie Markowitz, LMSW, currently serves as a Senior Social Worker for the Women's Defense Project at Brooklyn Defenders, providing comprehensive legal representation and trauma-informed support for cisgender and transgender women involved in the criminal legal system. Markowitz's experience encompasses various social work roles, including work in the Adult Criminal Defense Unit, where extensive mitigation reports and crisis interventions were provided. Previous positions include Staff Psychotherapist at Brooklyn Minds, where treatment for OCD, trauma, and anxiety was specialized, and project coordination at One Community NYC, focusing on resource integration for underserved populations. Markowitz holds a Master of Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and a Bachelor's Degree in French Language and Literature from Hunter College.
