Kirsten started their career as a Strategy Consultant at PwC Consulting from 1999 to 2002. In 2002, Kirsten became the Associate Director of Development for Annual Giving at the [Latin School of Chicago](/org/latin-school-of-chicago), where they were responsible for securing over two million dollars in unrestricted operating gifts each year. Kirsten left the [Latin School of Chicago](/org/latin-school-of-chicago) in 2012 to become the Major Gifts Officer at John A. Moran Eye Center, where they served until 2016. Kirsten then became the Director of Advancement at the University of Utah Radiology and Imaging Sciences in 2016, where they served until 2018. Kirsten has been with [BUILD Chicago](/org/build-chicago) since 2018 and currently serves as their Chief Development Officer.

Jessica Carrillo is the Director of Clinical & Community Wellness Programs at [BUILD Chicago](/org/build-chicago). Jessica has dedicated their career to working with youth in underprivileged communities.

Jessica started their career as a Youth Advocate at Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in 2002. In 2004, they became the Program Manager for Safe Life at the Chicago Child Care Society. Jessica was promoted to Director of Youth Development Programs at the Youth Service Project in 2012. In 2015, they became the Executive Director of the organization.

Jessica is passionate about helping youth in their community and has been a driving force in developing programs that provide them with the resources and support they need to succeed. Jessica is an advocate for social and economic justice and works tirelessly to promote equity and opportunity for all.

Jessica Carrillo has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Jessica also has a Master's degree in Community Counseling and a Master's degree in Community Health Services/Liaison/Counseling from [Roosevelt University](/org/roosevelt-university). Daniel Perez is currently the Manager of Communications & Media at [BUILD Chicago](/org/build-chicago). Daniel has over ten years of experience in marketing and program management. 

Daniel started their career at the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, where they were the Marketing Communications / Program Manager. Daniel successfully managed programs from start to completion, and was responsible for partnering with the internal team to ensure that work was delivered on strategy, on time and on budget. Daniel played a major role in developing and shaping programs, managing and building long-term client relationships and understanding the “big picture” in branding. 

Some of their key responsibilities at the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance included developing and implementing communications strategy, undertaking monitoring and evaluation activities to determine the success of communications strategies, raising public awareness around key privacy issues, and ensuring that the website was updated and steadily improved. Daniel also coordinated and managed public outreach and education events, including lectures, workshops and conferences. 

In their current role at [BUILD Chicago](/org/build-chicago), Daniel is responsible for overseeing all aspects of communications and media. Daniel works closely with the Executive Director to prepare mailshots, supporter newsletters, appeal letters/emails and all other necessary correspondence for attracting and developing individual supporters. Daniel also recruits, trains, motivates and manages volunteers where appropriate to assist in carrying out the above responsibilities.

Shruti Sekhri is the current Treasurer at [BUILD Chicago](/org/build-chicago). Prior to their current position, they served as the Controller at NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, LLC from October 2003 to March 2008. In this role, they were the lead financial officer for the company and managed the company’s cashflow, credit, financial/tax reporting, and directed all accounting/finance activities.

This immersive experience taught their that the financials not only tell the story of the business’ past, but also highlight what is coming around the corner. Shruti leveraged this insight to lead operational initiatives that either expanded top line or squeezed more out of the bottom line. For example, they identified a transactional bottleneck and led a 5-person cross-functional team in a business process redesign which doubled the capacity and reduced processing time by 75%. Also, they overhauled the entire accounting system to measure and support the restructured operations.

Prior to their role at NRC Realty & Capital Advisors, LLC, Sekhri served as the Finance Manager at Clark Retail Enterprises, Inc from March 2003 to September 2003.

Bennie Currie has dedicated their career to communications, strategic planning, and public relations. Jack began their career as a Press Relations Manager at Michael Reese Hospital before moving on to the [American Medical Association](/org/american-medical-association) as a Senior Public Information Officer.
