David J. Mazzo

David Mazzo has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on leadership roles. David is currently serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Caladrius Biosciences, Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing autologous cellular therapies. Prior to this, they held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors at EyePoint Pharmaceuticals from 2005 to 2020. David also served as a Non-employee Director at Avanir Pharmaceuticals from 2005 to 2015. With a history of leadership roles, Mazzo was the President and CEO of Regado Biosciences, Inc. from 2008 to 2014, President and CEO of AEterna Zentaris Inc. in 2007, and President and CEO of Chugai Pharma USA, LLC from 2003 to 2007. Earlier in their career, they held positions at Schering-Plough Research Institute and Hoechst Marion Roussel Inc. where they served as a Senior Vice President in development and global pharmaceutical development, respectively.

David Mazzo earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Honors - Interdisciplinary Humanities from Villanova University in the years 1975-1979. David then went on to complete a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1979-1983.
