Dale van Schalkwyk

Dale Van Schalkwyk has extensive work experience in the field of business intelligence and data analysis. Their most recent role was as a Business Intelligence Team Lead at Cape Union Mart Group, where they were responsible for maintaining the relationship between the business and BI, gathering requirements, maintaining systems, and handling client expectations. They also led the Oracle Retail Insights project, owned and maintained the BI backlog, and ensured complete documentation. Prior to this, they worked as a Product Owner and Business Intelligence Business Analyst at the same company, where they were involved in various projects, managed developers and external consultants, gathered requirements, and maintained relationships with key stakeholders.

Before joining Cape Union Mart Group, Dale worked at Sanlam as a Business Analyst and Data Analyst, where they were involved in launching new systems, producing requirements documents, liaising with stakeholders and developers, and maintaining systems. They also worked as an MIS Analyst at Sanlam, generating reports and conducting testing. Dale began their career at Sanlam as part of their Graduate Program and also worked as an HR Intern in the Remuneration and Benefits department.

Throughout their career, Dale has developed strong skills in SQL, JIRA, Oracle retail systems, Excel, and various data analysis tools. They have experience in agile project management and have worked closely with stakeholders from different departments.

Dale Van Schalkwyk has a diverse education history. In 2014, they obtained a Certificate in Developing Innovative Ideas for New Companies from the University of Maryland Global Campus. They also have a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems and Industrial Psychology from the University of the Western Cape, which they completed in 2014. In 2018, Dale completed a Certificate in Business Systems Analyst course from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town. They then went on to complete a Graduate Development Program Certificate from Connemara in 2016. Most recently, in 2021, Dale enrolled in the Certificate Programme in Business Analysis at the Faculty Training Institute. Dale has also obtained additional certifications, including Scrum Product Owner Certified from the Scrum Alliance in 2023, and a Boksmart certification from the South African Rugby Union in 2014.
