William Logan

East Regional Chief Medical Officer at CareMore Health

William Logan, MD is an Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Palliative and Hospice Medicine Board Certified, practicing physician with more than 25 years of clinical, academic, and management experience.

Dr. Logan received his undergraduate degree with honors in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill followed by his MD from the UNC School of Medicine. He went on to train in General Surgery and Transplant Immunology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. After a period of solo private practice in rural western North Carolina, he joined the faculty at Greenville Health System’s Internal Medicine Residency. He started Geriatric Care Services – a consultative practice assuring continuity of care for older adult patients from Acute Inpatient to each level of post-acute care (including Long Term Acute Care Hospital, Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation, and Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation). In order to continue to expand that program, he enrolled in a Geriatrics Fellowship at Duke University. During the Fellowship, he also obtained a Masters of Health Sciences at Duke University.

He returned as Chair of the Division of Geriatrics for Greenville Health System. He opened the Center for Success in Aging, a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment and research center in collaboration with Clemson University and the University of Georgia. In addition to direct patient care, he performed research in driving in the elderly and functional independence and taught in the Family Medicine and Internal Medicine residencies and the Geriatric Fellowship at the University of South Carolina. In 2014, he transitioned to Medical Director for Humana.

He moved to Humana’s provider organization, Partners in Primary Care (now Centerwell) and opened 4 fully-delegated clinics in the Upstate of South Carolina – assuming responsibility for over 6000 Medicare Advantage members. Dr. Logan received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee’s Haslam School of Business in 2020. He has been a South Carolina Chief Medical Officer for Centene and for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Through his work as Chief Medical Officer, he has managed Medicare, Medicaid, Dual Eligible, Special Needs, Institutional, and Exchange plan populations. His passion is assuring that older adults have the care they need to age successfully.
