Doris R. Varlese

Doris R. Varlese is the current General Counsel at CareMount Medical. Prior to their current position, they served as Counsel for the Health Committee of the New York City Council from April 1993 to April 1996. In this role, they advised the City Council Speaker and Council members on a variety of health issues, and drafted legislation, including the New York City anti-smoking law. From July 1991 to April 1993, Doris was an Associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Doris began their legal career as an Associate at Webster & Sheffield from September 1988 to June 1991.

Doris has also held consulting and temporary positions at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Westchester Medical Center from July 2008 to June 2013. In these roles, they advised City Council Speaker and Council members on a variety of health issues and drafted legislation, including the New York City anti-smoking law.
