Maria Ivanova is a distinguished academic and leader in the field of public policy and environmental governance, currently serving as Director at the Northeastern University School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs and as a Professor of Public Policy at Northeastern University since July 2022. Maria holds a visiting scholar position at MIT Sloan School of Management and is actively involved in various influential organizations, including the World Climate Research Programme as a co-chair of the Task Team on Climate Intervention and the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs as a member of the Carnegie Climate Governance (C2G2) Initiative Advisory Group. With a robust educational background from Yale University, where Maria obtained a PhD in International Environmental Policy, along with multiple other degrees, Maria has previously held significant roles at UMass Boston, including directing programs in global governance and human security and founding the Center for Governance and Sustainability. Maria is also a member of esteemed associations such as the International Studies Association and the International Network for Government Science Advice.
