Cheryl Oates

Cheryl Oates is an accomplished political commentator and public affairs expert currently serving as a Political Commentator for CBC and a Principal at gt&co, where Cheryl leads the Western Canadian practice. Cheryl co-hosts The Discourse Podcast, analyzing Alberta politics from diverse perspectives, and lectures on communications and rhetoric in public policy at the Max Bell School of Public Policy. Cheryl's previous roles include serving as Resident Senior Program Manager for the National Democratic Institute in Kyrgyzstan and Executive Director of Communications and Planning for the Office of the Premier of Alberta. With a background in journalism as a reporter, producer, and anchor at Global News, Cheryl's extensive experience in communications and public affairs is supported by a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
