Jane Burpee

Jane Burpee is the Director of Libraries and Learning Centres at Centennial College. Jane has over fifteen years of experience working in libraries and has held positions at McGill University and the University of Guelph.

At McGill University, Jane was the Coordinator of Data Curation and Scholarly Communications. In this role, they led the formalization, expansion, and implementation of Library-based research data curation services to the campus, and provided these services to researchers. Jane also supervised members of the Data Curation and Scholarly Communications team within the Digital Initiatives Division.

At the University of Guelph, Jane was an Associate Librarian and the Manager of Reference and Information Literacy. In this role, they coordinated research help services in-person, via chat and email and provided strategic direction for a campus wide information literacy program. Jane supervised 17 unionized library associates, who facilitated access to the library’s collections and other information sources through direct personal service to Library users, and performed various other duties such as in-house library instruction; cataloguing; resource support; incoming/first year orientation support; and website and subject guide maintenance.

Jane Burpee has completed a MLIS in Library Information studies from McGill University, a Dip Env in School of Environment from McGill University, a B.A. Hon in Sociology from Concordia University, and a Diploma of College Studies in Social Sciences and Math from CEGEP College Jean de Brebeuf. Jane has also completed certification programs in inclusive mindset for committed allies, driving change and anti-racism, inclusive leadership, and supporting allyship and anti-racism at work from LinkedIn.
