John Leister

John Leister is a seasoned professional in sports operations and coaching with extensive experience at various academic institutions and sports organizations. Currently, John serves as the Director of Football Operations and Senior Director of Football Relations & Student Athlete Engagement at Central Michigan University since January 2021, and has been involved with the university's football program as an analyst since July 2019. Previously, John held significant roles at Lindenwood University-Belleville, including Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach from February 2017 to December 2018, and served as Offensive Coordinator at Chesaning Union High School. John’s earlier career includes a tenure as Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator at Alma College, where significant contributions included the development of the "Scot Gun" spread offense and leadership of the baseball program. John also has experience as a player with the Boston Red Sox, serving as a starting pitcher from 1984 to 1990. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Arts and Sciences from Michigan State University.
