Joaquim Calbó

Head of Strategy & Funding at Centre for Genomic Regulation

Joaquim Calbó is the Head of International & Scientific Affairs at Centre for Genomic Regulation. Joaquim has over 15 years of experience in the field of biomedical research. Joaquim started their career as a visiting PhD student at Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology from 2001 to 2002. Joaquim then became a Research Associate at IRB Institute for Research in Biomedicine from 2009 to 2012. In this role, they were responsible for the administration of contracts with the government and private industry, submission of proposals, and coordination and supervision of the implementation of projects. Joaquim also wrote and edited scientific projects, reports, and technical papers. From May 2003 to August 2009, they were a Post-Doctoral Fellow at The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI). In their current role as Head of International & Scientific Affairs at Centre for Genomic Regulation, they are responsible for the coordination of international scientific activities, as well as the development and implementation of strategy for scientific affairs.

Joaquim Calbó has a Master's degree in Leadership and Management of Science and Innovation from Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona School of Management, a Specialist in Management of Quality and Innovation from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, a PhD in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology from Universitat de Barcelona, and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Universitat de Barcelona.

Joaquim Calbó reports to Luis Serrano, Director. They are on a team with Mònica Morales - Director of Core Facilities, Ivo Gut - Director of CNAG-CRG, and Anabel Sanz - Head of Technology & Business Development Office.
