Chance for Childhood
Janine McKelvey serves as the BT General Counsel for Data, AI, and Security, leading a prominent Legal, Compliance, and Assurance function with a team of approximately 50 professionals. With extensive experience in data governance, privacy, and ethics, Janine has previously held roles in BT focused on digital innovation and group data management, overseeing operations across 180 countries. As a co-founder of Women in Law & Data, Janine promotes positive change and support for women in the digital and data compliance sectors. Additional roles include Vice Chair of Chance for Childhood, advisory board member at PICCASO, and participation in the University of Exeter's Digital Advisory Network. Prior experience includes senior legal positions at Warner Bros. Entertainment and Pinsent Masons, along with a strong educational background in law from the University of Witswatersrand and the University of Bristol.
