Nikiya Alfred

Nikiya Alfred is an experienced educator currently working as a Teacher at Chicago Public Schools since August 2023. Nikiya also serves as a Scholar at the Golden Apple Foundation, participating in a summer institute focused on enhancing teaching skills and conducting research on academic and career readiness. Nikiya previously held positions as a Commuter Assistant at the University of Illinois Chicago and an Intern at Upkey, where Nikiya developed a capstone project aimed at improving education for minorities. Additionally, Nikiya gained teaching experience as a Teacher Assistant at Smart Learning Center, and developed leadership skills as a Recreational Leader with the Chicago Park District. Nikiya is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teacher and Community Leaders at Northeastern Illinois University after earning a Bachelor's degree in Urban Education from the University of Illinois Chicago in May 2023.
