Eric B. Kmiec

Eric B. Kmiec is the Executive Director and Chief Scientific Officer at the Gene Editing Institute, where they lead advancements in gene editing and translational cancer research. They served as Director of the Gene Editing Institute at ChristianaCare from 2015 to 2022 and held multiple academic and research positions, including Professor and Chairman of the Chemistry Department at Delaware State University from 2011 to 2015. Kmiec's extensive experience also includes founding roles in biotech companies like OrphageniX and CorriXR Therapeutics, along with editorial responsibilities as Editor in Chief of "Gene and Genome Editing" at Elsevier since 2023. They earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry from the University of Florida and continue their education with a BA in Microbiology from Rutgers University and an MS in Cell Biology/Biochemistry from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
