Ciaran Bunting is a seasoned software professional with over 24 years of experience, specializing in creating high-quality Cloud and SaaS solutions. His deep-rooted passion for designing elegant and beautiful software architecture is complemented by extensive expertise in team leadership and management. This combination has enabled him to deliver consistently excellent results and pursue his passions in the technology sector.

Career

Ciaran has leveraged his experience to lead projects and provide technical leadership at Oracle and ATG, building on his core belief in simplicity over complexity.

Ciaran Bunting began his professional journey as a software engineer at Nortel Networks in 1999. He developed his skills and gained valuable experience, advancing to a senior software engineer role. In 2005, he was promoted to software delivery architect.

After brief stints at ASG and Citigroup between 2006 and 2007, Ciaran found his footing at ATG, taking on the role of software architect and lead engineer in the autumn of 2008. When Oracle acquired ATG in the winter of 2010/11, Ciaran continued working, reaching greater heights, overseeing larger projects with bigger teams and gaining more creative control. Over the last decade, he has established himself as a key team member, taking accountability for all aspects of a project, asking critical questions, and keeping his team on track and motivated. As Payments Architect for Oracle Commerce, Ciaran was always open to discussing customers implementations, and helping to retain key accounts. Since early 2022, he has been with Juniper Networks, transitioning from a more technical, individual contributor role to engineering management.

Education

Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Ciaran Bunting studied at Queen’s University Belfast, where he learnt how to code at a professional level and earned a 2:1 degree in BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the summer of 1999. He enhanced his business acumen by completing a Business Administration qualification at Ohio Dominican University in May 1998.

Technical Abilities

Throughout his career, Ciaran has amassed a wealth of technical skills and expertise in all aspects of software design and engineering. He has extensive experience with Java, from early development in J2EE to utilizing Java in modern microservices. His most recent technical project involved creating a microservice for on-demand resizing of account product photos and images as a multi-tenant cloud service. Ciaran has demonstrated technical leadership through both hands-on implementation and architectural design.
