Rajat Sharma

Rajat Sharma is a Silicon Photonics Design Engineer at Cisco since November 2020, with prior experience as a Senior Engineer at V-E-O, Inc. from July 2019 to November 2020 and as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California San Diego from August 2013 to February 2019. During the tenure at UCSD, Rajat focused on innovative projects, including the design and characterization of capacitive silicon electro-optic modulators and the first demonstration of in-waveguide second-harmonic generation in silicon nitride waveguides. Rajat's expertise encompasses semiconductor device modeling and extensive cleanroom experience, contributing to advancements in on-chip optical communication. Educational qualifications include a Master of Technology in Microelectronics and VLSI from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a PhD in Photonics from UC San Diego.
