CTO at Clearpath Robotics by Rockwell Automation

Ryan Gariepy has had a successful career in the robotics industry. Ryan is currently the CTO at OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation and Clearpath Robotics by Rockwell Automation, where they are responsible for product strategy, engineering management, system architecture, design and test reviews, IP strategy, and R&D management. Ryan is also involved in various tasks such as watering plants, sweeping floors, and chasing prototypes around the office.

Ryan has been actively contributing to the field of robotics as the Co-Chair of the Canadian Robotics Council, advocating for robotics-fueled economic development in Canada. Ryan is also a Board Member at Open Robotics, further demonstrating their commitment to the industry.

Prior to their current roles, Ryan co-founded Clearpath Inc. in 2009 and served as the CTO. Earlier in their career, Ryan worked as a Robotics Software Developer at Aeryon Labs Inc in 2008, where they designed and prototyped the user interface for the Aeryon Scout. Ryan also evaluated backup outdoor localization techniques and defended against renegade aerial vehicles.

In 2007, Ryan was a Hardware Engineering Team Member at KIVA SYSTEMS INC. Their responsibilities included incremental development and testing of the onboard localization system, system- and robot-level analysis and testing, and hardware deployment and on-site troubleshooting of autonomous drive units.

Ryan Gariepy completed their Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechatronics Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2009. Ryan then pursued a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at the same institution from 2009 to 2011.
