John P. Morris

VP, Facilities Management at College of Charleston

John P. Morris is the vice president for Facilities Management at the College of Charleston. He began this position in February 2018.

In this role, Morris provides creative vision, leadership and management for Facilities Management, which includes capital planning, design and construction; physical plant operations; utility services; environmental health and safety; and sustainability.

Morris is charged with overseeing the College's physical assets, which includes more than 150 buildings covering more than 3.6 million gross square feet, as well as buildings at the College's regional sites. He is responsible for more than $9 million in state operating funds along with approximately $6.8 million in residential life/ housing services and athletics facilities management, and an $8.1 million utility budget.

Morris holds a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University. He is also a licensed professional engineer in both Colorado and Arizona. He holds numerous certificates and registrations in the areas of engineering and facilities management.

Prior to joining the College, Morris worked for Northern Arizona University for five years as associate vice president for facilities services and for University of Colorado Boulder for seven years as director of facilities operations. He also worked at Colorado State University for 24 years in various facilities management roles.

Morris is past president of the Rocky Mountain Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA), past senior representative to the APPA Executive Board, an APPA Fellow and past chair of the APPA Credentialing Board. He has also served on several APPA Facilities Management Evaluation Program (FMEP) teams.

Morris served as chair of the City of Fort Collins Electric Utilities Board and vice chair of the City of Fort Collins Water Utilities Board.
