Currently serving as a Senior Real-time Controls Engineer at Commonwealth Fusion Systems since April 2025, William previously held leadership roles at Merlin, overseeing the development of autonomous navigation systems and advancing flight controls software for fixed-wing aircraft. William’s early career includes significant contributions as a Research Assistant at Boston University, where the world's first open-source neural network-based flight control firmware, Neuroflight, was created. Additionally, William collaborated on security research at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, co-founded Capsules LLC, and held various engineering roles across multiple organizations, culminating in a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Boston University and advanced degrees in Computer Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and the University of Rhode Island.
