Pieter Abbeel

Pieter Abbeel is a Belgian-born American computer scientist and entrepreneur. Pieter is currently a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, co-founder, president, and chief scientist of Covariant, and an investment partner at AIX Ventures.

Abbeel's research is in the areas of artificial intelligence and robotics, with a focus on deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning. Pieter has developed several algorithms that have been widely used in the AI community, including TRPO, MAML, InfoGAN, SAC, GAE, MA-DDPG, Domain Randomization, and Hindsight Experience Replay.

In addition to their academic work, Abbeel is also a popular podcast host, having hosted the "Robot Brains" podcast for over a year.
