Kevin Lapinski

Director of Special Education, Crescent City Schools at Crescent City Schools

Kevin Lapinski, the Director of Special Education at Crescent City Schools, originally joined the team as a founding staff member of Harriet Tubman Charter School, where he began his journey as a first-grade teacher.

Prior to that, Kevin studied at the University of New Orleans (UNO) where he received his B.S. in Elementary Education (1-5) and Special Education (K-12). During his academic pursuits at UNO, Kevin interned in several charter schools, splitting time between general education settings and self-contained classrooms for students with mild and moderate disabilities.

More recently, Kevin’s experience at Harriet Tubman is punctuated by two demanding years developing, implementing, and teaching in the K-1-2 multi-age program and co-leading the afternoon 1-2 program. During the 2013-2014 school year, 71% of his second graders met their reading goals. In 2014, the year Kevin transitioned to Dean of Special Education, Kevin’s team was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as having 100% Special Education compliance. Since then, Kevin has worked tirelessly to develop special education programming, ensuring that Harriet Tubman was meeting and or exceeding the needs of all their diverse learners.
